A 28-year-old Edinburg man pleaded not guilty Tuesday to fatally shooting one man and injuring another after an altercation inside a bar’s bathroom.

A grand jury indicted Alexandro Cruz on June 2 on a charge of murder and attempted capital murder for the April 11 shooting at the Los Amigos Bar in rural Edinburg.

Deputies arrived at the scene that day at about 12:54 a.m. and found Noe Hernandez had been shot and killed and Gerardo Lopez with multiple gunshot wounds.

During the investigation, authorities obtained surveillance video that showed a man, who witnesses identified as Cruz, running away from the scene toward Brushline Road.

At 3:47 a.m. on the morning of the shooting, a probable cause affidavit said Cruz arrived at DHR Health and claimed he participated in the shooting.

He told investigators that he, Hernandez and Lopez had been arguing in the bar’s bathroom before he shot both of them.

Cruz bailed out of the Hidalgo County Adult Detention Center on May 3 on a total of $100,000 in bonds, records indicate.
