A girl, 16, reported an incident at the playground at the Drake apartments Sept. 7 in which she said the mother of a child responded with a knife and said, “I fight my kid’s battles.”

Officers learned that the teen’s 6-year-old sister had been in an altercation with a 9-year-old girl. The older child then told her mother that the 16-year-old had come to the playground to fight her.

The mother told police that she lowered the knife when she realized that all those involved were children.

The incident was forwarded to the prosecutor for review and potential charges.

Chuck E. Cheese management reported Sept. 1 that a customer had failed to pay her $144 bill for a birthday party.

They said she told them she needed to leave momentarily, but would return to pay. She failed to do so.

Officers tried unsuccessfully to contact the 28-year-old Cleveland woman.

At 6:42 a.m. Sept. 5, a Marc’s employee reported that there was a man on the second floor of the business with an assault rifle. She told responding officers that the man had been stalking her.

Officers did not locate any suspects inside the business.

Upon investigation, it was found that the employee had been acting strangely and has an open case with Cuyahoga County for mental health services.

A woman, 82, reported Sept. 4 that she believed her wallet had been stolen out of her purse while she was shopping at Costco.

She had been alerted by her bank of two attempts to use one of her credit cards at a Nordstrom store. The incident is under investigation.

A 24-year-old resident of the Drake apartments was arrested for domestic violence Sept. 2 after an incident involving his pregnant girlfriend.

Charges for attempted drug trafficking were also filed after 95 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found in his apartment. He admitted to selling marijuana to support his family.

A man reported Sept. 2 that he had been scammed out of $500 when contacting whom he believed to be Amazon.

He had called to track a package and was subsequently convinced to purchase a $500 Target gift card and provide the redemption code.

An employee of Rockwell Automation reported Sept. 7 that her cell phone and wallet had been stolen from a restroom at work after she had left the items on a toilet paper holder.

She suspected that a member of the cleaning crew may be responsible, but that woman denied any involvement.

A woman reported Sept. 6 that her father’s Social Security checks were being deposited in the name of his second and estranged wife and her boyfriend.

She believed that due to her father’s dementia, the woman has been stealing the checks and using the money to fund her own lifestyle. She said her father recently discovered that he was $11,000 behind on mortgage payments.

A man, 72, and his 51-year-old wife were arrested for domestic violence Sept. 5 after an incident in the parking lot of the former Walmart.

Officers were familiar with the couple, as they live out of their vehicle and are often in the city. They believed both were under the influence of alcohol.

A resident asked officers to speak with her daughter Sept. 7 about vaping.

The girl, 16, said she had purchased vape products from a store in the city at least 10 times without being asked for identification. She also said she has used marijuana.

An officer explained to her why she should make better choices.
